RM SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a deeper form of soft tissue massage using specific techniques to treat physically active individuals to aid faster recovery from their physical activities. It assesses and treats muscle imbalances, stress, tension and potential areas of overuse or minor soft tissue problems, and helps to improve the range of motion of muscles which suffered from injury in the past and accelerates their healing process. Examples of conditions treated by sports massage include: ITB problems, runners knees and cyclist knees.

Whatever level you train at and regardless of the sport or exercise you do, regular sports massage can help improve your performance. Whether you cycle, run, climb, row, or lift weights, sports massage can improve your performance. Regular massage can help prevent injuries by detecting early warning signs, locating minor soft tissue damage and help prevent them becoming chronic conditions or developing into an injury.

Massage can aid with rehabilitation of more serious injuries, working in conjunction with other professionals and medical practitioners helping towards a fuller and faster recovery. Even old injury sites can be improved by helping to break down the scar tissue formed in the muscles, allowing it to function more effectively.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is based on generally the same principles as sports massage and can use similar techniques. Remedial massage techniques are used to treat a wide variety of muscular conditions with the aim of getting to the source of the problem. Examples of conditions treated by remedial massage include: lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, tension headaches, computer shoulders, and sciatic nerve impingement.

MET Stretching

Muscle energy technique (MET) is a variety of techniques that stretch, strengthen or breakdown fibrous adhesions. MET is an active technique, i.e. the patient's own effort and movement, rather than that of the therapist, provides the primary force in treating the problem. MET stretching can rapidly improve your flexibility for performance or be uses as part of a rehabilitation programme post injury.
